The charming Green Room Brewing was the first microbrewery to open its doors in Jacksonville Beach. The fun, laid-back atmosphere and the tasteful selection of local beers on tap make Green Room an enjoyable hangout for both the casual beer drinker and the craft beer enthusiast. They have 16 taps on deck, with seven permanent brews and nine rotating seasonal taps. Adding to the fun are the numerous games they have to keep you and your friends occupied. With a very dog-friendly atmosphere and the option to bring your own food, all of this adds up to an enjoyable, authentic Jacksonville Beach experience.
Green Room Brewing is easily spotted on the corner of 3rd street and 2nd avenue. There’s an interesting nautically-themed mural on the side of the wall that many visitors enjoy taking photos with. The parking lot is small, maybe only three parking spaces, so it’s usually necessary to take an Uber or find street parking. Upon entering, you’ll have an easy view of the bar. The interior atmosphere is very laid-back and welcoming. The most immediately noticeable aspect of the interior is the colorful chalkboard menu, which sits above the bar in clear view, and notes every detail you’d need to know about what Green Room is serving. They have also graciously presented the wifi password, which is conveniently and artistically displayed here in chalk.
Of the 16 taps available behind the Green Room bar, seven of them are permanent year-round brews. Head High, a very hoppy and aggressive West Coast IPA brewed with cascade and Amarillo hops, is definitely the star of the taproom. This is a favorite among many of the local visitors and beer lovers. The Pablo Beach is a crowd pleaser and the perfect beach Pale Ale, with a strong and refreshing citrus taste. The Shaka is a dark and delicious oatmeal stout, with a twin brew also available called the Count Shakula, which is a chocolate version of the original oatmeal stout. The diamond is a blonde brewed with orange blossom honey and the Knee High is a Session IPA brewed with Amarillo hops. The Double Overhead is an interesting double IPA that has a complex hop bitterness as well as a strong and enticing hoppy aroma. The remaining nine taps are on a seasonal rotation of experimental craft beers that are sure to please no matter what time of the year you visit.
Green Room Brewing is very accepting of pets. In fact, dog-friendly might actually be an understatement for this place. The staff at Green Room strongly encourage you to bring your dog, as long as it remains properly leashed and can play well with other dogs and most importantly other people. At times, the place can be filled to the brim with patrons and their dogs. So, if you don’t enjoy relaxing with a delicious local beer and petting a ton of dogs (who wouldn’t?) then this place might not be for you.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the Green Room Brewing experience is the game room in the back of the establishment, which also offers a view of the brewing operation. There are a few picnic tables to sit at and hang out with friends. There’s a foosball table, ping pong, board games, giant Jenga, and more. Live music and special events are frequently hosted, so check out their website for more information. As for food, Green Room doesn’t have a kitchen. They do allow food to be brought in, however, and even delivered. There is even a list available at the bar of local restaurants that will deliver. So if you’re in the beach area and looking for a unique experience, visit Green Room Brewing. You’ll be able to discover craft beers, play games with friends, and enjoy a meal of your choice at Jacksonville Beach’s first microbrewery.
