Intuition Ale Works

Intuition Ale Works opened its doors in 2010 in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. It was founded by owner and brewer Ben Davis, a Jacksonville native with extensive experience in wine and beer. Intuition Ale Works is dedicated to brewing local, small-batch, handcrafted ales that bring a unique and flavorful quality to the Jacksonville community.  In February of 2012, they became the first craft brewery in the state of Florida to can its beers and distribution is still going strong, Intuition Ale Works to be lasting winners in the Jacksonville craft brewery game.

Recently moved to a new location in Downtown Jacksonville, Intuition’s brewery and taproom lies in the heart of the entertainment district. With its scenic rooftop view and delicious food, it’s proven time and time again for many Jacksonville locals to be a perfect hangout spot before or during an event Downtown. The tap room contains large glass windows that give an inside view into the brewing operation, so everyone can see the creation process. There is a lot of space, enough seating for plenty of people, and a large bar. Brewery tours are given, free of charge, every hour on the hour for as long as the taproom is open. Just let your beer tender know you’re interested. A tour lasts about 30 minutes, during which a trained guide will walk you through the Intuition brand and brewing process.

The taproom is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Thursday, they open from 3pm to 10pm. On Friday they’re open from 3pm to 11pm. Saturdays are all day fun from 11am to 11pm. Sundays are from 1pm to 8pm. Every Tuesday at 7pm, they host a fun Taproom Bingo. Check the Intuition website for other upcoming seasonal events they have scheduled on their calendar. Intuition currently packages five canned brands for local distribution. These beers are also constantly available on tap in the Intuition taproom. Their flagship beer, The People’s Pale Ale, is an American West Coast-style hoppy pale ale with a crisp citrus aroma. Also popular among locals is the Jon Boat Coastal Ale, an English-style golden ale with a crisp lager style. The I-10 IPA is an incredibly hoppy West Coast IPA. Easy on the Eyes is a session IPA with an enticing citrus aroma that’s easy not only on the eyes, but the nose and taste buds as well. The King Street Stout is a dark, semi-sweet brew with hints of roasted malt and chocolate. Each of these beers is worth a try, from both the tap and from a can.

If you’re a person that likes good local food with their craft beer, then this place is for you. Intuition has partnered with the local Black Sheep Restaurant to bring great, made-to-order food to your brewery experience. It’s a limited menu, but the dishes are made with quality Black Sheep recipes. You can’t go wrong with snacks like the House Pimento Cheese and Crackers, the Pork Rind Nachos, and the delicious Fried Cheese Curds. They offer larger entrees like hot dogs and sandwiches, a BBQ plate, a fried shrimp basket, and a short kids menu.

Intuition Ale Works is a wonderful hangout spot in the Downtown Jacksonville area. A great place to learn about brewing beer, a fun place to grab a locally crafted drink with friends, and a good pit stop before a local game or event, Intuition Ale Works is sure to offer a one-of-a-kind Jacksonville experience like no other.
